Chapter Business

Officer Elections

The slate of officers were presented as follows:

                President:                                              Renee Bade

                Vice President:                                      David Sexton

                Activities Chairperson:                       Steve Trammell

                Membership Chairperson:                  Diane Leith

                Communications Chairperson:           Renee Bade

                Webmaster:                                           Open

                Secretary/Treasurer:                            Open

Ballots were distributed which included the above names and an option to write in a candidate.  By direction of Bob Bianconi, SESHA Regional Director, all attendees were allowed to vote.  Julie Spencer, a Steering Committee Member, tallied the votes and announced that all above candidates were elected and that Sally Pawsat was nominated for Secretary Treasurer.  Sally accepted the position and was thereby elected to that office.  Julie also encouraged the appointment of a Web Master, which is strongly desired to promote our organization and to provide easy access to information and benefits.  If you or a colleague are interested in a professional development opportunity this is an idea chance to achieve this.  Send inquiries or information to David Sexton at david.sexton@sematech.org.

Membership (by Diane Leith)

Benefits:  The benefits of national membership, the membership drive program, and current membership statistics were presented via Powerpoint.  Membership brochures (Individual and Corporate), membership applications, membership drive “wanted” posters, and a summary of current SESHA job postings were displayed to promote national membership.

Drive: Each national member who brought a guest received a raffle ticket for a drawing for a Barnes and Noble Gift card. At the end of the meeting, Bob Bianconi announced the winning ticket number.  Jeanne Yturri won the gift card for bringing Rob von Czoernig of Zephyr Environmental.

Mini-Conference (By Steve Trammell)

Steve Trammell discussed initial concepts for a possible early 2005 mini-conference.  The conference format would be a single general session in the morning with several keynote speakers, then a multi-track session in the afternoon highlighting specialty and technical topics.  Volunteers for helping with the planning for this conference were requested, with several persons volunteering.  An initial planning teleconference is scheduled for the week of July 5th, and anyone interested in participating is encouraged to contact Steve at steve.trammell@freescale.com or at 895-2380.

Next Meeting (by Steve Trammell)

The next meeting will be on September 21, 2004 at Samsung.  The potential speakers for this meeting are Richard Gartmann, EHS Director at Texas State University, and Joe Van Gomple or BOC Edwards.  Richard’s subject will be Ethics and the EHS Profession, and Joe’s will be on advances in Hydrogen Abatement.  We will also have a special “lessons learned” roundtable session, with Ed McCarthy of Freescale facilitating the discussion.

Presentations – Chris Nauert, Robert Camacho/Anna Bustante-Reynoso, Robert Bianconi

Chris Nauert, Robert Camacho/Anna Bustante-Reynoso, Robert Bianconi gave presentations.  For their contributions each received a $25.00 gift certificate to Barnes & Noble paid out of the chapter funds.

We encourage the submission of presentation abstracts and/or ideas for future presentation.

Lunch & Networking

EORM provided pizzas for lunch and believe it or not there was a lot left to feed Laurie Beu’s family for dinner!  After the meeting attendees stayed networked for 15- 30 minutes.  With 36 attendees there were plenty of people to meet with 12 new faces!

Thanks to Our Speakers and Sponsors

Our thanks goes to Chris Nauert, Robert Camacho/Anna Bustante-Reynoso, and Robert Bianconi for their speaking contributions with a special thanks to Steve Trammell for coordinating the presentation equipment and introducing the speakers, and EORM for providing lunch.    You can learn more about Freescale at http://www.freescalesemiconductor.com/.  You can learn more about EORM at http://www.eorm.com/.
